THE DEBT Premiere Date Announced

RICHMOND, VA. - The Monroe Studios original web series, “The Debt”, will premiere on Monday, September 30, 2019 on the company’s official site and YouTube. The series, which is proudly filmed in Richmond, Virginia, features a list of local actors including actress and model Talisha Williams along with fellow actor Walter C.A. Riddle.

The series marks the Richmond-based production company’s debut into the film industry. The thrilling crime drama has been named an official selection in the 2019 Charlotte Black Film Festival and a Semi-Finalist in the Louisiana International Film Festival. 

“The Debt” follows the story of two estranged sisters who are forced into an alliance with a sadistic stranger. Additional featured cast includes Kelli Nelson, Montrey Greene, and Minda Marie Fels. The series is directed by Taryn Elyse, who is also the creator.

THE DEBT to Premiere in London

RICHMOND, VA. - The Monroe Studios original web series, 'The Debt' will make its international debut at the London International Motion Pictures Awards (LIMPA) in London, United Kingdom later this month. The thrilling drama series starring Richmond locals, Talisha Williams and Walter C.A. Riddle, has been nominated in the Best Web Series category at the 4th annual festival.

The festival, which begins on May 22, 2019 in London, aims to strengthen relationships of filmmakers across the world and focuses on the "fusion of the scenic arts." THE DEBT Premieres at Charlotte Black Film Festival

CHARLOTTE, NC. - This weekend, the Charlotte Black Film Festival (CBFF) kicked off its ninth season in Charlotte, North Carolina. 'The Debt' was one of over 40 independent films to screen at the festival. Opening night festivities began on Thursday, April 11, 2019 and ended on Sunday, April 14, 2019 with the Red Carpet Vision Awards ceremony. Notable guest appearances included Keith David ("Greenleaf") and Maria Howell ("The Color Purple").

'The Debt' made its two episode debut on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 4:30 PM. Following the screening, series creator and director, Taryn Elyse, along with cast members Walter C.A. Riddle ("Black") and Minda Marie Fels ("Jaye") participated in a Q&A session with event attendees. 'The Debt' will be available for online streaming in September 2019.

THE DEBT Wins First Laurels

RICHMOND, VA. - The Monroe Studios original web series, 'The Debt' snags its first laurels as an official selection in the 9th annual Charlotte Black Film Festival (CBFF). The festival, which begins on April 11, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina, will screen independent films and host film-making workshops with opportunities to network with top industry professionals. The goal of the four day festival is to "be a voice for independent filmmakers" while promoting African American cinema. The festival will conclude with the Vision Awards ceremony which recognizes the achievements of selected creatives.

Production Wraps on THE DEBT

RICHMOND, VA. - On Sunday, April 16, 2018, principal filming for ‘The Debt’ series wrapped. The original drama was filmed in Richmond, Virginia over the course of five weeks. The web series, created by Taryn Elyse, centers around a strait laced young woman who, in an effort to protect her darkest secrets, makes a deal with a notorious criminal. The series is expected to be released to the public on various online streaming platforms in the fall of 2019.

THE DEBT Cast takes Promotional Photos

On Saturday, February 24, 2018, the cast of 'The Debt' hit the studio for a promotional photography session. The main cast includes: Talisha Williams ("The Heart"), Walter C.A. Riddle ("Sure Thing"), Minda Marie Fels ("Loving"), Montrey Greene ("The Ghetto Series"), and Kelli Nelson.

The series is set to begin production in early March 2018 in the Richmond, Virginia area.

Monroe Studios Hosts Table Read for THE DEBT

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, the cast of 'The Debt' gathered at Monroe Studios for their first table read. 'The Debt' is an original web series created by Taryn Elyse and is set to debut online next year.

The cast includes Daytime Emmy Nominee, Rolfini Whidbee and Richmond native, Talisha Williams.

Seeking Production Crew for THE DEBT

Monroe Studios is currently seeking production crew for the eight-episode web series, THE DEBT. The series is set to begin filming in Richmond and surrounding areas this spring.

The following positions are available: Director of Photography, Production Sound Mixer, Grip/Gaffer, and Production Assistant.

Casting for THE DEBT to Begin in January

THE DEBT, a Monroe Studios original web series, is looking for actors for the upcoming season, set to be filmed in Richmond this spring.

The show will begin filming Season 1 in Richmond and surrounding areas in March 2018. Filming will be Friday through Sunday. All work is paid and Non-Union talent is requested.

Under the direction of veteran actor, Taryn Elyse, Monroe Studios promises to offer a fresh take on the web series genre. Monroe Studios is currently wrapping up pre-production on its new original drama/thriller series, “The Debt” which is set to begin shooting in March 2018.
